Medical Practice BackgroundMaurice H. Miller, M.D. established a solo orthopedic practice in Madison County in 1982 and later a satellite office in Clinton County. In 1999, taking time off to write a medical textbook on osteoporosis, returned in 2001 as a full-time staff orthopedic surgeon in the under-served area of East St. Louis. Advanced Orthopedic Clinic, LLC is founded on meeting the orthopedic and bone health needs of the expanding metro-east population.
Education and TrainingDr. Miller earned a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science (biology and chemistry) at the University of Illinois followed by an MD degree at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine (Springfield) in 1976. Following specialty training that included residency at SIU in general surgery and in orthopedic surgery. Dr. Miller founded his Madison County private solo practice in 1982. He considers himself a life-long student and eagerly looks forward to learning the latest clinical information through participation in continuing medical education courses.
Professional Associations
Dr. Miller was one of the first St. Louis members of the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine. He is a Charter Member of the National Association of Disability Evaluating Physicians and member of the American Academy of Clinical Neurophysiology, the Flying Physicians Association and holds membership in the usual local and national medical associations. He participated with Doctors Without Borders (Les Medicins Sans Frontieres) in the Mexico City earthquake of 1985.
Board CertificationTraining in orthopedic surgery was followed by course work in Forensic Medicine, permitting earning status as a Diplomat of the American Board of Forensic Medicine and member of the American College of Forensic Examiners.
